Method

    Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

    In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and kosher salt until evenly combined.

    In a large bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and glossy.

    Beat in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until fully incorporated and the mixture is smooth.

    Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring with a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix.

    Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

    Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up and enhance flavor.

    Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 5 cm apart.

    Bake the cookies one sheet at a time in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and the centers are soft and slightly underdone.
